If you’ve been waiting for the day you can finally share your apps with the world, now’s the time.
As of this month, all apps in the Google Play Store have to be upgraded to the latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
That means there’s now a fair bit of work to do before you can share your content with the masses.
In the case of apps that have already been updated to Marshmallow, the upgrade will automatically happen on your device.
If you’re running an older version of your phone, though, you’ll have to wait until the update goes live for apps to be updated.
To see if your app is up to date, head over to the Google app store, or check the apps that are currently updated.
If there’s an app that is still not up to snuff, you can upgrade it manually using the software updater.
It’s also worth noting that the process for updating apps can be a little messy.
In fact, Google has a handy guide to help you through the process.
While this upgrade process is fairly easy to automate, there’s a few caveats to keep in mind.
First, Google’s updater doesn’t work in all countries.
The app may need to be imported from another country.
Google also recommends that you only upgrade your app if you know what you’re doing.
If that means installing an app from another platform, you might want to opt for a more traditional upgrade.
Secondly, you need to check to make sure your apps are compatible with the new version of the app store.
If your app has been updated, the app will work with Marshmallow apps, but you’ll need to update it to the newest version before the upgrade can take effect.
Lastly, you’re going to want to backup any information you have in your app before updating it.
It might be a good idea to backup your app settings and any data that may have been stored in the app.
That data could contain any personal information that you may have shared with someone else or used the app to advertise your app.
If all of these rules are followed, you should be good to go.
