Fox News is reporting that the 2020 campaign has been sold out for months, with advertisers saying they’ve been told they’ll need more time to get through the final stages of the process.
In fact, Fox News has learned that there’s only so much time for advertising to be sold, so the ads should be sold out even before the 2020 election.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, Fox Business CEO Michael Corbat said that advertisers have told him they have until April 30 to get their final bids in, but it’s not clear how many of them will be able to do so.
“We have to have at least three bids in before the election and we’re in a situation where we’re only at three bids, and we have to be prepared to be at that price.
We have to make sure we’re able to sell as many ads as we can before the campaign ends,” Corbat told Kelly.
In the meantime, the 2020 presidential campaign will be dominated by one company: Amazon.
The company has been spending millions of dollars on advertising on the campaign, but that campaign has failed to generate any revenue for the company.
“Amazon will be the biggest player in 2020, and they have a clear path to the White House,” Corbats CEO said.
Corbat also told Kelly that he would be “very upset” if Amazon didn’t sell out its ads before the end of 2020, though he also suggested that Amazon’s dominance over the election campaign could change in the next election.
“If you look at where it’s gone over the last six months, it’s been a great success,” Corbet said.
The 2020 campaign was one of the most expensive presidential campaigns ever, costing the Federal Election Commission $17 million to run and bringing in $3.4 billion in advertising.
In 2018, the Republican National Committee spent $3 million to advertise on the 2020 race, according to CNN.
Fox News was the first news organization to cover the 2020 contest, with an article on Friday detailing the various ways the 2020 primary would unfold.
“I don’t think the election is a one-sided contest,” Corbin told Kelly on Friday.
“There’s so much money involved that it’s going to be a tough race.”
